We’ve recently had the absolute joy of redesigning our logo and updating our “brand identity”, working with the supremely talented Lydia from Creative Stripes.
We are beyond thrilled with our new logo – it’s fun, stylish and joyously right for us. Don’t you agree?!
But best of all, it has a hidden Equipp message of positivity in it. Yep, you’ve guessed it, it’s that little hummingbird that forms the dot of the ‘i’ (fun fact – that dot is called a tittle).
You’ll probably know that the hummingbird is the smallest migrating bird in the world, that their wings beat so fast that they ‘hum’ and maybe that they’re the only birds that can fly backwards. (QI has nothing on us!) But did you also know that hummingbirds have a long history of symbolism?
In various different cultures over thousands of years, these little birds have been seen as healers and bringers of love, good luck, joy and playfulness. Or to put it another way, they encourage the enjoyment of life and the lightness of being. We found out that they are said to “lift up negativity” – could anything be more appropriate?
Oh, and they are also said to represent resilience, adaptability, independence, and continuity. Yep, we’ll have all of that too please.
We first started thinking that we wanted a bird as a symbolic icon as they express freedom and independence; choosing your own path. All vital for every teen, of course. And when we realised that a hummingbird added the note of positivity and encouragement that we strive to keep at the heart of everything we do, we were sold.
Expect to see a lot more of this lovely little bird – it’s inspired all sorts of rather wonderful new products and has made us even more enthusiastic about running this little business of ours.
