It’s our business birthday! Equipp has turned 3. We raised a glass – of course! – and took a moment to look back together over some of the highlights of the last three years.
It’s been hard work, as starting a small business always is, and there have been downs as well as ups. But we are so grateful to be working together doing something that we both love so much – whenever one of us has a bad day the other is always there with a large cup of tea or glass of wine, ready to sit and listen, and say encouraging words. It really is the dream!
The highlights
There have been so many joyous moments over the last 3 years – reaching the final of the Small Award’s New Kid On The Block at the beginning of 2019, the milestone of our 1,000th order on Notonthehighstreet back in 2018, our first photo shoot on location, each and every one of those 5 star reviews… we could go on and on. But there are just a few moments that really stand out:
- The Lockdown Creative Challenge that we ran (the first time round!) for teens to contribute to. We were wowed and amazed at the talent out there and it’s something we’ll never forget.
- For Anna, running Virgin Sport’s ASICS 10K to support Hector’s House was something she would never have even thought of before Equipp gave her the motivation to get out there and run with her kids. She’s still so proud of herself ????
- For Louise, working on a collaboration with Darcey from Shady Beach, who she watched grow up, was just joyous. Being able to help a business even younger than ours and to give such enterprising young adults a boost as they started out felt just great.
We’ve learnt so much, conquered a whole load of fears and are even getting (slowly) used to showing our faces to the world on camera. And we’re totally inspired to keep challenging ourselves – hello, technology, we might be middle-aged mums but we’re coming for you! We’re making big, happy, positive plans for the future in true Equipp style.
A massive thank you
We also want to say a huge thank you, of course, to all of our customers and followers and to everyone who has supported and contributed. We’ve worked with so many amazing creators, photographers, manufacturers, designers and business mentors. The small business community we’re part of is a total highlight of what we do – we love you all ????
Working with teens
The only thing we’re not quite so happy about is nothing to do with Equipp at all. The last three years have passed so quickly and our teenagers (who inspired the business in the first place) are another three years older. Some of them aren’t even teens any more… If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we absolutely love being mums to teens. We think teenagers totally rock and, with all its ups and downs, parenting them is a brilliant stage of life. And, even though we’re bursting with pride and love, it’s SO hard to see them grow up and leave home.
We’re consoling ourselves with the fact that we’re still so involved with young people through Equipp. We adore working with teens and are just going to have to borrow everyone else’s! We’re always on the lookout for teens to work with us, whether it’s for product research, as a brand ambassador or guest blog author, or for an illustration or photography project. So if that’s you or your teen, we’d love to hear from you. DM us on Instagram or Facebook or email us at info@equipp.co.uk.
