We recently did an Insta Live and blog post on teenage anxiety and when to seek help with Lotte Stringer from Hector’s House. During the Live, Lotte mentioned that there are some excellent resources on social media that can help with understanding the issues around anxiety and teenage mental health. We promised to follow this up for you all, and started by asking Lotte about Instagram accounts that help with clear visual explanations. Here are Lotte’s recommendations of two of the very best.
Dr Emma Hepburn (The Psychology Mum)
Emma draws psychology and mental health and is a brilliant place to start, especially as the drawings of ‘Brian the brain’ are so teen-friendly. Here are just a few of her inspirational visuals, picked out for us by Lotte.
Here’s where to find Emma on Instagram and Facebook.
Suzy Reading
Suzy is a coach, author, and psychologist. Her work is less visual and aimed more at parents than teens, but she’s a master of pithy quotes that are somehow just what you need to hear. We love this:
She also shares carefully selected drawings and images from other accounts, like this one from the awesome @josie.doodles. It’s a great way of discovering new people to follow; especially as everyone responds to different approaches.
Here’s where to find Suzy on Instagram.
We hope you find these tips on understanding teenage mental health helpful, and would love to hear which accounts have helped you. If you’ve got a recommendation, please let us know in the comments below.
